Stan's take: when we choose lemlist

lemlist is one of the most complete all-in-one options we use for a sales team. Its strongest use case is a team that already has reps and wants those people to run more relevant, personalized outreach. The database, signals and sequence builder can sit close to the work those reps do every day.

Our preferred use case is lower-volume, human-in-the-loop outreach: a rep has a reason to approach an account, reviews the message and stays involved as the conversation develops. Email, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, SMS and calling can each play a different role in the sequence.

Our recommendation: choose lemlist when the sales team should remain at the center of the process, with automation organizing research, timing and follow-ups around them.

Build the sequence around the signal and the salesperson

A useful sequence starts with a relevant event or account insight. The rep reviews the proposed angle, sends a concise email and uses LinkedIn or a call to add context. A WhatsApp message or SMS can support the relationship where appropriate. You do not need every channel in every sequence.

lemlist supports conditional paths based on contact data and engagement. Calls and manual tasks give reps a defined next action, while the campaign retains the history. This is why we favor it for a coordinated sales motion rather than judging it only by email volume.

Channel access depends on the setup. WhatsApp requires an eligible multichannel or enterprise plan and a connected account. SMS requires a supported SMS-capable lemlist number and sending credits. Confirm these requirements before designing a five-channel campaign. WhatsApp setup and SMS setup explain the current conditions.

What is lemlist used for?

lemlist helps sales teams find prospects, prepare messages, run outreach and manage the response. The important part is coordination: the next action can reflect what happened in the campaign rather than following an isolated email schedule.

Its current offering includes data enrichment, buying signals, AI context, lemAgent, deliverability tools and multichannel campaigns. Channel and feature access vary by plan and add-on. For a buyer, the useful question is which parts of the sales process need to live together and which should remain in the CRM or another system.

It is a strong shortlist candidate when reps combine email with LinkedIn and calls. If your requirement is strictly an email sending operation across many mailboxes, compare Instantly and Smartlead too. If LinkedIn sender coordination is the central problem, evaluate HeyReach.

Example: an account-aware campaign for a specialist service

Suppose you sell a technical consulting service to software companies entering a regulated market. A generic list of CTOs is insufficient. The proposed workflow below starts with the account change, then gives each channel a job.

  1. Build the account segment: define the market, company profile and relevant expansion evidence. Exclude existing clients and active opportunities.
  2. Identify the role: find the person responsible for the change. Confirm current employment before treating an enriched email as usable.
  3. Prepare the offer: turn the observed initiative into a narrow, credible discussion. Do not invent compliance problems or imply access to private information.
  4. Write the first email: state the relevant observation, explain the specific help and ask one simple question.
  5. Assign a supporting touchpoint: use LinkedIn or a rep task when it adds context. Avoid repeating the same pitch in another channel.
  6. Define branching and stops: a reply, opt-out or active sales conversation must change the remaining path.
  7. Review and launch: inspect a small batch, validate the variables and test the handoff with an internal record before releasing the campaign.

Store the account domain, person identifier, signal source, signal date, campaign version, sender and CRM owner. Those fields make a response understandable after it leaves the campaign dashboard.

How to set up lemlist properly

1. Prepare the sending environment

Connect the intended mailboxes and verify authentication, reply handling and domain ownership. Review SPF, DKIM and DMARC configuration with the domain administrator. Confirm that the visible sender identity and reply address are correct. A deliverability feature cannot compensate for a broken setup or an irrelevant offer.

2. Clean and map the audience

Normalize company names, verify current roles, deduplicate contacts and apply suppression. Map every variable deliberately. If a research field is missing, choose a neutral fallback or hold the lead. Never let a blank variable produce a sentence that implies a fact you do not have.

3. Add business context for AI

Provide the offer, audience, proof, approved terminology and claims to avoid. Separate evidence about the prospect from assumptions about their needs. Review generated messages for factual accuracy and relevance before approving them.

4. Connect the CRM

Decide whether lemlist creates records, updates existing records or simply logs activity. Define which system owns lifecycle stage, account ownership and opt-out status. Test a reply, a booking, an opt-out and a duplicate record before launch.

5. Assign the operating work

Someone must answer interested prospects, resolve failed steps and review results. Write down the response owner and a practical response target. An automated sequence without an inbox process creates missed opportunities faster.

lemlist pricing: understand the plan and the extras

Reviewed October 18, 2026. The official pricing page lists Email at $69 per month on monthly billing, or $55 per month on annual billing. It lists unlimited users and email senders, with 50,000 emails per month at the displayed starting tier. Multichannel is $109 per user per month, or $87 on annual billing, with five email senders per user. Enterprise is custom.

Data enrichment is a separate listed add-on from $20 per month on monthly billing, with 2,000 credits, displayed as 400 emails or 100 phone numbers. Buying signals start at $29 per month for the displayed 100-signal allowance. Annual prices differ. Credits, channel access, calling and other usage may change the total, so compare the complete configuration rather than the headline subscription.

For example, a three-rep team should compare the relevant per-user plan, its sender allowance, enrichment usage and any channel charges with the actual process it intends to run. Do not compare a discounted annual seat price against another vendor's monthly workspace fee as if they were equivalent.

lemlist vs Instantly, Smartlead and HeyReach

Choose lemlist for evaluation when an existing sales team wants personalized, lower-volume, human-in-the-loop outreach across channels, with signals and data close to campaign execution. Evaluate the exact workflow in a trial, including the work that happens after a reply.

Evaluate Instantly when email operations and its connected research and AI features fit the requirement. Inspect the distinction between outreach subscriptions, credits and bundles.

Evaluate Smartlead when mailbox operations, client separation, API-led execution and deliverability diagnostics are central. Price the operational modules you will actually use.

Evaluate HeyReach when LinkedIn multi-sender coordination is the core job. A connected email tool can support the wider motion, but you will need a clear cross-platform handoff.

None of these choices fixes a weak offer. Run a realistic pilot with the same audience and success definition before deciding that a platform is the source of a performance difference.

Common mistakes that make campaigns underperform

  • Calling every reply a lead: distinguish positive interest, referrals, objections, automated responses and opt-outs.
  • Overpersonalizing: a long observation is not valuable unless it connects to the offer.
  • Ignoring overlap: the same account should not receive conflicting messages from different reps.
  • Following up after context changes: a reply or open opportunity should alter the sequence.
  • Optimizing opens: tracking can be distorted by privacy features and automated scanning. Evaluate qualified conversations and opportunities.
  • Overwriting CRM truth: an enrichment estimate should not replace a field verified by the account owner without an agreed rule.

What a successful handover includes

The deliverable should include audience rules, approved messaging, variable definitions, channel logic, CRM mappings, suppression rules, reporting and an exception checklist. Your team should know how to add a new segment, pause an underperforming campaign and diagnose a failed handoff.

Questions buyers ask about lemlist

Is lemlist only for cold email?

No. Its current platform includes multichannel outreach, data, signals and AI assistance. The channels available depend on the plan and configuration.

Can I combine Clay with lemlist?

Yes. Clay can prepare qualification and research fields before campaign enrollment. Agree the schema, exclusions and duplicate handling before connecting the tools.

Do I need every channel?

No. Start with the channels your audience uses and your team can operate well. Add another only when it has a clear purpose in the conversation.

Does warmup guarantee inbox placement?

No. Authentication, list quality, reputation, recipient engagement and provider policies all matter. Monitor actual outcomes and investigate problems rather than assuming a tool guarantees delivery.

What should I measure in a pilot?

Use a defined audience and track usable contacts, qualified positive replies, meetings held and opportunities. Record costs and the time spent handling responses.

Can frontBrick implement lemlist for our team?

Yes. Implementation can include strategy, data preparation, campaigns, CRM integration, reporting and training. The scope should match your sales process rather than a generic template.
